Global Green Holy Cross Community Center
New Orleans, LA

This Community Center is part of a larger mixed use master plan to re-inhabit a block in the Katrina-damaged Holy Cross neighborhood of New Orleans. The facility will house a community room, Global Green offices, a visitor's center, retail space and community offices and will feature an outdoor plaza for events. Designed to meet the goal of LEED Platinum, the center will serve as an educational tool for sustainability, as well as a sustainable location for first responders in times of emergency. The center is oriented to receive maximum benefit from the sun and features a large solar array & clerestory windows for diffuse daylighting. The design uses readily renewable and high recycled content materials and allows for collection of rainwater in a large cistern for use in irrigation, flushing of toilets, and HVAC cooling.
