July Alley Bar
Dallas, TX

The owner asked that every part of this bar, which was inserted into an abandoned warehouse in Dallas' Deep Ellum district, be a unique art object. The resulting design relies greatly on "found objects" from a nearby metal scrap yard. It includes a 2-story sculpture at the front entry, a 30' by 20" deep i-beam drink rest, and a bar with a glass top covering a moving conveyor belt. The belt is painted with a 35' long rotating mural that changes out several times a year to feature different neighborhood artists. This project was awarded a Dallas AIA Merit Award for Design.
