R. Sean Sullivan

Sean Sullivan was born and raised in the Crescent City. He comes from a family of restauranteurs, but decided at a young age to become an Architect. With a passion for New Orleans' historic architecture and its many southern gardens and outdoor spaces, he attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge to pursue a degree in Architecture. After graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree, Sean continued his studies in the field of Landscape Architecture. In 1987, after his university studies, he returned to New Orleans to begin his professional career.

During the next 18 years of his professional development, Sean implemented a vast variety of project types, from highly detailed historic residential restorations to larger corporate offices and highly technical medical/hospital developments. As he refined his design philosophy, his interest in the integration of indoor/outdoor spaces further developed into a holistic approach to architecture and landscape design, which can be observed in many of his design projects. Sean has a keen eye for the authentic in terms of the details of his endeavors.

Since becoming a founding member of SCNZ Architects in 2006, Sean has undertaken the duties of the day to day operations of the firm and in addition to orchestrating design projects, he has become somewhat of a sounding board to the other principals and staff of the firm. He has worked on projects from coast to coast and currently holds architectural licenses in Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida.

Thanks to his background in his family's restaurant business, Sean knows good food, and with his love of the outdoors and gardening, he knows how to grow better food. When not pursuing his vocation at the office, he can be found following his avocation in his gardens, growing just about all the produce his family, friends and neighbors can consume.
