Bluegreen Marquee
New Orleans, LA
When our client, Bluegreen Vacations approached us to renovate a newly acquired building for their second resort in New Orleans, it was clear that they wanted the design of ‘The Marquee’ to reflect the history of the neighborhood, just on the edge of the New Orleans’s Theatre District and site of the former Storyville. Located between Elk Place and South Rampart on the edge of Canal St, the Marquee Resort shares the neighborhood with such famous historic venues as the Saenger, Joy, Orpheum and Mahalia Jackson theaters.
SCNZ Architects joined creative forces with Van Dresser Interior Designers to envision a stylish lobby and sales area that would ‘set the stage’ for a unique guest experience. Two large LED video walls, a 45-foot long moveable glass wall, a custom wire sculpture depicting the building’s host, ‘Story Val’ are leading features in the Lobby area. At the Sales Area, 4 meeting rooms with LED-lit canopies and color-changing light features celebrate the closing of a sale. The design team collaborated with Audio Visual Reality and Creative Content Consultants to realize the numerous special effects that are central to BlueGreen Vacations' theme. The result is a playful homage to the district’s colorful history that captured the client’s vision for the space.
