Embassy Suites LAX
Los Angeles, CA
The Embassy Suites at LAX was in need of upgrades, however at the time, Hilton Hotels was early in development of their program for refreshing the dated atria in the Embassy Suites Hotels. We were tasked with upgrading the feel of the atrium while only intervening in the space on a limited basis.
The existing hotel design is based on the Mexican Hacienda style. To refresh the atrium within the budget and scope limitations, our approach was to provide new structures, lighting and support facilities that play off of the ambiance of a Mexican fiesta. A new buffet line uses a trellis and Spanish facade to provide a focal structure in the atrium, and festoon lights solve the problem of providing reading lights out in the expanse of the atrium, while advancing the look and feel of an outdoor fiesta space. The completed renovation also provides a refreshed lobby, bar/restaurant and guest rooms.
