Embassy Suites Miami
Miami, FL
This hotel is one of the early 1980s vintage Embassy Suites built in the Spanish style. The atrium resembled an overgrown park with complementary areas that had been cobbled together over the years. The space was home to little activity and in need of a complete renovation. The entire ground floor public space was gutted in Phase One of a two phase project. The multi-level atrium spaces were filled in and a new modern, urban Spanish Plaza was developed. SCNZ designed a new rain screen fountain monolith that is now the focal point. We added surrounding structures to house the complementary functions of the brand, creating a fresh new look while responding to the Southern European influence of the original building. We also relocated back of house functions and created a direct physical and visual connection to the pool, which had become a difficult amenity to find - much less see - from the atrium. The result is vibrant and activated public face to the property.
