Located at the foot of the iconic Santa Monica Pier, this 7-story hotel features views of the Pacific Ocean and the pier’s boardwalk and amusements. In 2023 the hotel was renovated from head to toe and rebranded as The Pierside Hotel. A previously blank wall that faces the ocean is now punctuated by a striking sixty foot tall mural designed by Shepard Fairey. The remaining exterior was painted with a refreshing blue gradient and new energy efficient windows that reflect the beautiful California sky. A new Santa Monica dining establishment named the Surfing Fox has opened its doors out onto a once quiet sidewalk. An expansive folding wall reveals the chic bar and restaurant within which breaths new life onto Colorado Ave. Patrons can now dine outside beneath the tree canopy surrounded by a stylish glass guardrail. The lobby and guest rooms have also been rejuvenated with a modern beach aesthetic. Light blond wood surfaces are accented with cool blues and cutting edge lighting. The space flows between the lobby and restaurant between a dramatically lit wood fin wall. The guest rooms beam with sunlight through new floor to ceiling, sound insulating windows. Clunky through-wall air conditioning has been replaced with new quiet and efficient VTAC units. Last but not least, the pool has been reinvigorated with new finishes, new ADA restrooms, and a sound wall that provide peace next to the busy Pacific Coast Highway. This renovation will cement Pierside’s status as a new Santa Monica landmark.
